Macro Tracking Works, let me tell you why.

Counting macros works for several reasons.....

Macro tracking.... What is it?

Macro nutrients are the fat, carbs and protein you take in each day to make up your total caloric intake. It's important to know what your consuming and to find the right ratios for your goals. Are your goals to gain muscle, lose fat , increase energy?

Macro tracking is not a dietary philosophy but a lifestyle of tracking your intake to the specific foods you like or need. Vegans can macro track. Vegetarians can macro track. You can Keto macro track.

The best way to get started is to start logging your daily food intake. Don't change your eating habits just yet, just start logging everything you eat for an entire week. Use an app such as My Fitness Pal. There are so many to choose from that are free. Once you log for an entire week you can take a good look at what your daily macros look like plus how many calories your consuming. We can then start to make adjustments to fit a good ratio for your goals. If you are trying to lose body fat then you'll need to be in a caloric deficit. To gain muscle you may need a surplus. PLUS you'll need to be strength training, but that is another conversation.

How do I set my macros? Well that is where an experienced coach comes in. There are several apps to help you calculate your macros, which is a great place to start, but hiring an experienced coach is going to go a very long way.  Everyone body reacts different metabolically to carbs, fat and protein. We like to evaluate your history of dieting and see your current weekly intake to start with a base line of macros. After about 4 weeks of tracking. We will do a second body composition scan with our SECA Medical Body Composition Scanner to see what type of progress you made. Did you lose fat, water, muscle? Then we will make adjustments and do the same 4 week rotation. Once we see what is working best for you we will stick with those macros until they no longer work. The body will always plateau without changes. You will need adjustments as time goes by. Again this is where a coach is key to direct you during these periods.

What is great about macro tracking is that you will be in control of your food! You will become educated in all you eat and what works for your body. You will be free from fad diets forever. It's a journey worth taking. We'd love to take that journey with you. Reach out if you want to learn more about macro tracking with us and beginning with a medical body composition scan!
